Off The Hook
We are a group of private investigators, bounty hunters / fugitive recovery agents, and bail bondsmen that have been in this line of work for over twenty five years and have many stories to tell. We have traveled all over the country catching fugitives and bringing them back to have their day in court. With our years of experience we are trying to educate the public about bail and why it is a needed part of our judicial system.

A phone rings and the caller says your loved one is in jail. They sound official, they know names, and the number on your screen even looks like the sheriff’s department. Then they ask for payment through Cash App or Apple Pay for an “electronic monitor,” promising you’ll get the money back later. That’s the moment people get trapped, and we want you to hear exactly how this scam works before it hits your family.
We’re Rob and Chad, and we move from everyday life and a quick sports reset into the real world of bail bonding in North Carolina. We break down how scammers spoof numbers, why verification beats panic, and the simple step that saves you: hang up and call the sheriff’s department back on a trusted line. We also talk about the flood of “cut rate” bond quotes and why the cheapest number on the phone can become the most expensive mistake when the bondsman stops answering or won’t show up at the jail.
To round it out, we share a practical money sidebar on Roth IRA investing and ETFs, especially for building long term security for your kids. Then we tell one of our favorite recovery stories: “Tiny” a 6'8", 400 pound guy who misses court, hides in an attic, and calmly surrenders when we finally find him, with a few lessons on reading a scene, keeping everyone calm, and working around the limits of third party addresses.
If you got value from the stories and the warnings, subscribe, share this with someone who might get that late night “jail call,” and leave us a rating and review so more people can find the show.
Back From Vacation Catch Up
SPEAKER_01What's going on, guys? Rob here. Chad over here. Uh, what's happening with you, brother? Oh, not much. Man, you know what? We haven't been here, we haven't done a podcast in a couple weeks because you were gone.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_01How's your trip? Working on my tan. Uh, it was great. Nice, uh, nice to hit the reset button for sure.
SPEAKER_02Yep, it absolutely was. Um, we had a little bit of bad weather at the end, but the beginning couple days was great.
SPEAKER_01But you know what? Bad weather in a place like that is still a good day. Still a good day, you know. Just sit on your you know, sit on the porch and just kind of relax. Right.
FIFA Final And Escapist Sports
SPEAKER_01Man, so uh big news. Let's see where we're going to start at here. The FIFA Cup.
SPEAKER_02I watched it all.
SPEAKER_01Congratulations.
SPEAKER_02Not everybody likes that, but I I had a good time. I really like soccer. Some people do, some people don't. No, and it's fun to watch. I didn't get to watch it. I was tired, man. I played a lot of it when I was younger, so I I I respect the sport. But uh man, those guys that's a lot of cardio, man. Yeah, it's nonstop, man. It's it's pretty much so that's what I I get out of it. Those the the ball handling those guys, man, it's just mind-boggling what they can do.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, congratulations though to Spain for winning that.
SPEAKER_02That's I was rooting for Spain. Oh, were you? Yeah, I'll tell you why.
SPEAKER_01Uh-uh.
SPEAKER_02So Madonna says talking about Argentina.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And I don't like Madonna, so I went. Man, have you seen her? Have you seen Madonna? Obviously, she was in the the show. Yeah, they had a big show. Really? Yeah, you should have watched it, man. It was really good. They uh I mean, it was better than our Super Bowl. Oh, how wow. Yeah, it was really good. Well, we didn't have any controversy, I don't think, with uh Bad Bunny.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02We had we had actual entertainment and uh it was really good. There was no hidden messages, I don't think, in it, or you know, it was just straight up good entertainment.
SPEAKER_01That's what I mean, that's what I I was like I missed the most about, I guess, sports and entertainment. Like, no, there's no political agenda, there's none of that mess in there. It's a way to escape this mess.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it was it was really cool.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So anyway, um that was a good contest. It went down, you know, all the way into uh uh uh overtime, and uh Spain managed to squeeze one in.
SPEAKER_01Man, uh I I was tired, man. We I I I don't know what it is here lately, man. The heat of something's gotten too much.
SPEAKER_02We go under extreme heat where we're at. I'm I'm sure like a lot of the United States is, it seems like, but we're uh drought and extreme heat. It's been like the high 90s. Yeah, but it feels like a hundred to a hundred and five. Yeah, it was probably cooler where I was at in Belize than it was here. Yeah, dude, I could crazy Saturday.
SPEAKER_01I couldn't catch my breath Saturday. Like I was it was that humid and that hot and the band played, and I just like, man, we ended it early because I could I just couldn't do it. And then I had to go like I got a buterol treatment, uh huh. And it made me made me feel a little better, but man, I'm like, am I man, I'm getting older. I can't do this like I used to. So oh well. Oh well.
Politics Fatigue And Voter ID
SPEAKER_01Uh all right, so here's the one thing okay, sir. And I saw uh uh like an article about this, and I agreed with it. Um I didn't read much on it, I just you know read the headline, read a little bit about why. But all these people that are like especially Democrats and Liberals and Republicans, all up in arms about Epstein Island, you know, you know, the the the pedophile island, little kitty little kitty island. Yeah, yeah. All right, so they're all in up all all up in arms about that, you know, want to you know, get back, but don't say anything about is that the Islam religion about marrying little 10-year-old, eight-year-old girls off. Like you get you got problem with one, but you don't have a problem with the other. I I don't know, dude. Like, I I mean we've talked about this, man. That there's something going on, like it's it's above us. Uh I I you know right. I I I think that the that the radical Islamic over there is just it's pure evil.
SPEAKER_02Well, when Iran puts a picture of Donald Trump in a mural of uh him in a coffin and his family around him uh in pictures too, over there. Um on a personal level, how would you take it? You know?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, even if it like I I don't want to see anybody, any other country doing that for Bill Clinton, or you know, Joe Biden or anybody. I just I I really wish we could all just get along, man. And like, but you can't, you know, these these there's there's no talking to these people, and these people are they're upset, they're getting attacked left and right, and but uh man, it's just it's a hard, hard, hard discussion to have, you know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it is. I I mean I wish I knew more about all that to discuss it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, and we and then we're not getting told half the shit that's going on.
SPEAKER_02That's that's my point. It's it's like we don't we don't know enough about it to actually have valid input. You see my chair broke here. Yeah, you're gonna have to throw it away. Yeah, get rid of that thing.
SPEAKER_01Uh so yeah, I'm uh I'm a little, you know, I'm kind of over it. Uh I'm tired of hearing about it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's nice to w to get a break from politics um for a while. Let's kind of dip out of that. And we're just gonna be in our own little world of uh what we do.
SPEAKER_01Oh, we could talk about I know one thing, one last thing and talk about what uh uh Maine. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_02That that thing, whatever that's Democrats, what are you doing, man? Seriously. Like you replaced okay, you took kicked one guy out of your state, Maine, of uh what was that guy? I don't know his name, but I don't know. He had the swastika tattoo, yeah, the Nazi tattoo up there, and then he had some other issues with women that he was you know in trouble about, and they finally just ousted him out of running, and now you've got one of your re possible replacements is this thing that I I man, I the video has been I thought it was a joke at first.
SPEAKER_01I guess like an SNL skit or something.
SPEAKER_02Is what it looks like, yeah.
SPEAKER_01But no, it's real, yeah, yeah. Like, when are we gonna get away from that crazy shit? Whatever, dude. Or it what I I'm I don't even know what to say. Yeah. But you know, that the whole and and and another thing is like the the whole voting thing, like Save America Act.
SPEAKER_02Oh, the Save America Act? I mean, what's why you why are you gonna not support something hidden that we don't know about?
SPEAKER_01I that's another thing. Like, what do you what's hidden in it that we don't know about that that we're not getting told about?
SPEAKER_02Right. Well, that's that was a democratic move that used to happen a lot. We'll call it, you know, the something really nice. And like, who would vote against that? You know, but hidden in it, just vote on one thing at a time.
SPEAKER_0180 million dollars going to something, you know, crazy. Just just vote on one topic at a time and call it what it is, and uh, you know, we'll gotta have yeah, right, so you gotta have an ID to fly, you gotta have an ID to to buy a gun, you gotta have an ID to you know you gotta have an ID to drive, you know, a lot of stuff.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_01So why not have an ID to vote in our American elections? We can't vote in China's or Russia's or whatever. I dare people to go over there and say, hey, I'm gonna vote in your elections. They're probably tell you to say, get the hell out of the country, they're gonna kick you out.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_01So I don't see nothing wrong with having an ID. It's not gonna suppress anything. I mean, come on. I I I'm I'm starting to see where a lot of like a lot of politicians are, oh it's gonna do this, this is gonna do this, and this is gonna do it, and it doesn't happen. It's just a way to to to scare you into not voting for something or or to vote for something.
SPEAKER_02Uh people need to stop paying attention to R or D next to names and actually look at what they're trying to do. Yeah. Bill Mar, I mean Yeah, and he's a good example.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he's a Democrat, but he said that JD had vote uh J D um might have his vote as a Democrat's.
SPEAKER_02Um the man makes a lot of sense.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And uh, you know, Rogan is a reformed uh uh liberal from California, living in Texas. Yeah. And uh, you know, he's not completely right sided, which you know is good for him. He's still got his uh his his arguments for certain things, so that's good. So um, but he had a really good conversation last week with uh JD Vance, and y'all should listen to that one too. Listen to the guy.
SPEAKER_01You know what? There's got there can be I think there can be common ground throughout. There can't. There can I think there can be.
SPEAKER_02The craziness though has got to stop. Unfortunately, everybody picks this side to watch on TV and it's it's horse-fed garbage, and then that's where their belief is sidetracked. I'm telling you, man, I'm really generally people are good.
SPEAKER_01Retire give sell coconuts down in the islands, man. I'm telling you. Sounds great.
SPEAKER_02It does sound nice, man.
SPEAKER_01So, um, all right. Well, we're gonna move on from politics and all that bull at BS. Let's get into some of the bell bonding stuff because this is a bell bonding show. Right. We want to talk about uh a couple things.
Bail Bond Phone Scam Breakdown
SPEAKER_01First is the scam that keeps going. We've talked about this.
SPEAKER_02I keep getting calls from people that told me um that they're getting calls from someone pretending to be with the sheriff's department, and this is in different states, it's not just ours. Um, where someone said, Hey, um, we saw that you know little Susie is in jail and her bond is such and such, but we can do this electronic monitor and you'll get the money back, but you'll have to pay twelve hundred dollars and um for the monitoring fees, and then you get the money back when she completes court. Sounds good. Sounds initially. I mean, they're I mean, they sound legit. They know that they they say they're yeah, they actually some of these are like the real names of people that work in that sheriff's department, so it sounds legit. The number is actually spoofed, so if you were to call it, it actually does go back to the sheriff's department. It's a really good scam that they got going on.
SPEAKER_01So I if somebody calls you like that, just say, all right, let me let me let me verify, hang up on them and call the sheriff's department.
SPEAKER_02They blow it at the end when they demand to be paid in a Cash App, Apple Pay, Penmo, one of those apps. Yeah. And that's where that's where you're gonna get screwed because they can't they can't trace that back.
SPEAKER_01And here in North Carolina, we we know that like so Cash App is a is a no-no to use pro bell bonding.
SPEAKER_02For his bondsmen, yeah, but I think there's still some that are taking it, but they're not supposed to be not supposed to be because of this scam that's going on.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so we're we're you know we are we stand behind everything we do, so we can't speak for other people. But if if that is happening in in you or or uh you getting calls, just you know, call, hang up. Actually call the sheriff's department back, ask for that officer, yeah, and they'll they'll tell you, hey, this is a scam.
SPEAKER_02And they put out a lot of information too about these scams, too. But I mean, it's you know, you can't reach everybody, and and they're getting people that are at the moment they're desperate to fix a situation. When you get a call and somebody's you know, a loved one's in jail, you know, all you want to do is fix it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and NABA uh NABA, they've they've come out with you know, trying to trying to tell everybody, and so is the NCBAA. These are all bail associations, um national and local. Yeah, so I mean, we're we're trying to get the word out there, but it's hard because you know, not everybody listens to us or whatever. Right.
SPEAKER_02Uh or are I just just use your sense, you know, when when you hear this stuff, it's too good to be true, it probably is. Yep. So um, so yeah, just be careful out there. We're just trying to, you know, put out the word.
SPEAKER_01Yes, yes.
The Truth About Cut Rate Bonds
SPEAKER_01Now, now let's talk about this. Now, while you were out on vacation there, sir, I I hate the phones. I can't stand them when he he he'll forward the phones to me, right? And I so I'm getting everything, I'm getting calls, I have to make decisions on everything. Did you make our Google ratings go down? I'm not, but I answered them.
SPEAKER_02I put up with a lot, man. He he does.
SPEAKER_01I'm so glad he does because it's it's hard.
SPEAKER_02Everybody's got their role, man.
SPEAKER_01But hey, I got a lot of calls of hey man, uh you know, what can you do this bond for? And I'll and I'll go through the process and talk to them, and uh, and I'm like, well, look, you ain't got a not a strong cosigner. You know, I need to you know, give me another co-signer.
SPEAKER_02Or well, you're alluding to the uh cutting rates, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well, I'm I'm getting there. We're getting to it. I'm getting there. And they're like, Well, how much? I'm like, well, it's a $20,000 bond. So I'm like, you know what? It's three thousand dollars.
SPEAKER_02That's 15%.
SPEAKER_01That's 15%.
SPEAKER_02That's what we can charge in North Carolina for those of you who are listening that don't know.
SPEAKER_01Not a penny over.
SPEAKER_02Yep, we can we can do that's that's how where we can go, right?
SPEAKER_01And so I'll tell them that, and they're like, man, why why so high? I'm like, well, you don't have a there's not a strong cosigner. Um, you know, this girl cleans houses. You don't have a job, you're on social, you know, social security. It's not a good bond.
SPEAKER_02What he means by people cleaning houses is jobs that are easy to stop and relocate. Right. You know, they're not like you're you're not really tied to a community. It's not like you're gonna leave your 401k at a nice job. Right. It's a painter, a carpenter, you know, these are all jobs you can pick up and move in the middle of the night, is how we look at it. Because it does happen.
SPEAKER_01Yes, it does a lot. So that'll risk assessment. Well, such and such, I know a bondsman that I'll do it for 3%. I'm like, man, you might call them while they're still in business.
SPEAKER_02They're still in business. But in business they are. Their phone might be cut off.
SPEAKER_01I can't tell you how many times I've said that. I can't tell you how many times you've said that.
SPEAKER_02So the 3% thing's a magic number that you might hear from bondsmen because that's what they owe their insurance company. If not more. Out of this this money that we collect, we have to pay an insurance company a certain amount, no matter what we reduce our rate from. Right. So all they're trying to do is cut out everybody else so you'll go with them and hopefully they'll get the payment.
SPEAKER_01Well, that you gotta you gotta hope they'll show up then. That on top of that. Because what it is, they'll quote you three or five percent. So you get to jail and they don't show up because you know they don't want to do it for that because they ain't gonna make no money.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. I get calls all the time. People call back and go, Well, that person that quoted me that they're not picking up the phone. Yeah, they're not showing up no more.
SPEAKER_00Really?
SPEAKER_02Because they won the the lowest bid and now they don't want to do it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I know, right? So, you know, who uh man, just people if he's just go with a reputable company, yes, go you know, go with your top top three Google picks. Hopefully it's us off the hook. Yeah because we're top. Actually, the uh when I uh did that bond, uh the last bond I did, the guy was like, Yeah, he goes, I looked y'all up and y'all were y'all were there, y'all were the first ones there. I was like, Oh, cool, thanks. What county was that? Uh near Hanover.
SPEAKER_02Sweet.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, awesome. Um so uh let's see, we talked about that scam. Oh, I wanted to bring this up a little bit in the podcast.
Roth IRA And ETF Basics
SPEAKER_01It's not it's not about belt bonding, but it's the Roth IRA. So we've been talking about it. Oh, and and we've been talking about a little bit. It's not, you know, it's it's not exciting.
SPEAKER_02Now we're invest investment news. Yeah, yeah, investment, investment news.
SPEAKER_01Like, so I believe it's a smart thing to do to for your especially for your children. Yeah. Because by the time they get old enough to retire or 40, they'll have a ton of money in there if you if you contribute and do what you contribute, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So uh uh who did you buy yours through? Um I am through the company's called. Um, yes, thank you. Yes, that's who I'm through.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm actually going to take a look into it myself and and and start uh trying to do it myself um here shortly.
SPEAKER_02Um ETFs are uh more of a safe um investment from what I've been learnt teaching myself through TikTok videos, believe it or not.
SPEAKER_01Hey, you know what? TikTok's got a good thing going on.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, if you if you can find knowledge in there amongst all the other things.
SPEAKER_01You can find some stupid shit in it. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02But there's actually people putting out good information. So I mean, if you look at enough topics on it, you know, you kind of do a summary of what you've what you've learned in your little TikToks. Um, so yeah, ETFs are kind of like I call it a shotgun approach to um an industry of let's say solar or no, excuse me, uh energy, you know, like uh solar, wind, whatever. If you're into that, you know, that department area is kind of like all the companies that deal with that, you know, any kind of energy.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_02So um yeah.
SPEAKER_01So take a look at it, guys, because that's I mean, it's it's something that and it's also tax-free for up to like 7500.
SPEAKER_02It's pre-taxed money that you're investing, yeah. Yeah, so so when you withdraw, it's uh already been taxed. Right. That's uh any I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Check it out. It might it uh it might help, you know. Check it out. I I I know I'm about to start one, so all right. Um
Hunting Tiny In Raleigh
SPEAKER_01let's get into our story. All right, so what are we talking about today? Tiny, tiny, tiny. This was up in Raleigh. This was a you and who. This was me, Matt, and um another guy named Luke.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so all right, so this is one of you guys, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay, it's been it's been quite some time. Okay. Uh, but I've had it marked up there, and I'm guessing tiny's not so little. No, no, no, no, no. Tiny kind of a big boy. So, all right, so this is a banker's cleanup. Yeah. So we get the file, and I'm looking at the file, and there's a lot of information on this guy. I'm like, this guy don't look like a criminal. He's got a lot of stuff. He's got cars in his name, he's got kids, uh-huh. He's got a nice house, you know. I'm like, what's going on here? Why did he miss court? And how'd he miss court on like some like some stupid, like I think Larsney by employee or something like that? Like, okay. Yeah, it was and it wasn't a big bond either. It was like an $8,000 bond. Okay. So I get the file, and we see all this stuff here. We got good information. I'm like, man, uh this seems this something don't seem right. I think we can go straight to the house and find them.
SPEAKER_02It's it's weird though, like, you know, that he hadn't been picked up. Yeah, yeah. Usually a warrant officer's gonna, you know, at least come by and try to serve the warrant once. Well, usually.
SPEAKER_01Well, here we here you go. I got a little surprise for you. Okay, I mean so we go, we go to the house, and it's the it's not, it's like afternoon and it's still light out. Okay, and it's a beautiful two-story house in a nice neighborhood. I'm kind of looking at Matt going, man, this don't even sound this don't even look right.
SPEAKER_02It don't feel right.
SPEAKER_01It don't feel right. I don't like, and I didn't, we didn't have a vest on, nothing. I just walked up to the door. Right. Knock on the door, right? Nothing. And then I call his wife. I said, All right, I said, Matt, let's let's let's just call his wife. I think this is something we can handle pretty easy. He said, All right, call the wife. She answers. I was like, hey, this is us such. Um, you know, we're trying to figure out what the hell went on. And she was like, Well, I don't know. Uh I said, Where are you at? She goes, I'm at home. I said, Well, well, great. I'm in your driveway. Uh I've knocked on your door, come talk to me. She was like, Oh, okay. Wait, she you know, she screwed up because she didn't even know she didn't hear me or something. She didn't have time to come up with a lie. Well, the vehicles were home. Yeah. So she comes out when I'm sitting there talking to her, just as normal. And I can tell something's not right. And I'm looking at Matt, and Matt's looking at me, and I'm like, hmm. And I was like, Can I come in? Can I come in and check the house? Because we it's a third-party address. We don't have rights to go in the house. Right. I'm like, can I come in and check? She goes, but can you come back later? I got the kids down. I'm like, Well, not really. I said, Let's let's um just let me check it. And she goes, Well Okay, you can check it real quick, but don't go upstairs. I'm like
SPEAKER_02First place I'm going is upstairs.
SPEAKER_01And I'm like, all right. And she goes, matter of fact, she goes, No, you can't come in. She changed her mind on this last night.
SPEAKER_02Oh, wow.
SPEAKER_01And I was like, Okay. And I just played it off. I was like, okay, well, when you see him, tell him to call me. Here's my number. Tell him to call me so we can get this fixed. I mean, it's it's easy. It's easy fixed, right? So we leave and we're posted up watching the house because we know he's in there. We know he's in there. And we know something's going on. She's trying to do that. Man, we waited for hours. Really? Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_02Hours. That'd be hard to do knowing what you know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I know. Well, the light, you know, well, so it's not daylight anymore. Okay. Lights are coming on, floating on in the house. Off and on. I mean, you can see there's movement going on. So Tiny, let me explain to you. Tiny, we don't have much of a description of him because all we got is a uh we got is a four-feature in a picture. Oh. And from the picture, well, from the picture, you can tell he's a big dude. Yeah, but you can't tell exactly. Yeah, you can't tell exactly. So finally, it's like we leave and we come back at like one in the morning.
SPEAKER_02You left?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we left. Okay. Because we had it, like we had it like do we were doing a cleanup. So we had other other other places. We had to go rest a girl, and then we came back. We knew he was gonna be there. We he ain't going nowhere. So we get there at one o'clock in the morning. I'm beating and banging on the door, and she comes to the door, she's all sleepy out. I said, All right, and this we had our we had a vest on, we had we were we were ready to go. I said, All right, we're gonna search this house now. I said, You're gonna let us. And she goes, Okay, go search the house. So she lets us in. She gives us permission to search. Okay. We look, this is a big house. Yeah. And we look all throughout. And I get we get up to the second floor, and she's starting to get antsy. I could tell when like I'm getting closer. And if like Matt's watching me too, and he and he knows what's going on. Like we can read each other. Right. And so I'm in the bedroom, I'm looking, I'm like, all right, here's it. He's got clothes on the floor, he's got shoes here that are the size of my damn forearm. He's definitely here. I'm like, he's definitely here. And I'm like pointing stuff out to Matt, and he's like shaking his head, and she's like, So she's standing in front of this door. This little small, it's kind of a smaller door that goes into the attic from the second floor. And I was like, ma'am, you need to move. Let me go to bed there and check this. She goes, Okay. And she like steps to the side. I said, Matt, watch her. I open a door and I have my light on. And when I was looking through the door, I you see attic, right? You see that as like a little floor. But I turn, you know, when you go in a door, you don't know what to expect, you know. And so I'm kind of like looking to the side and I see like a part of his arm, and I pop in there, and he's sitting there like this. Like he just sitting there, like, oh, calm. He goes, All right, you got me. I'm sorry. I said, No problem, brother. Come on. I said, Come on, come out. He's a big dude now. Uh and when he came out that door, I said, FIFA, fo thumb, where did you come from? Damn. How tall did you say he was? He was six eight. Six eight. And 400 pounds. He was a monster of boy. And I'm looking at him going, Oh man, if he decides to fight, we're done, bro. I'm like, this is gonna hurt. Oh my gosh. So he's like, Well, man, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to miss court. I uh I I just got my days mixed up and I was gonna go down and take care of this, but now you're here, so you just you can take me in. I was like, Okay. All right, uh, I'm not gonna fight you. I'm like, all right, you know, you're cool. Keeping them calm, you know.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, that's what you really need to do.
SPEAKER_01And he was like, Um, do you have uh any bigger cuffs than that? I was like, uh I'm like, how about this? We chained three cuffs up in front of three of them from in front in front of them. He was that big, dude. He was just huge.
SPEAKER_02Oh, you I mean like one after another to make it long?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah. He had he had one handcuff over here, one handcuff here, and then and then one in the middle to attach it. Oh wow.
SPEAKER_02He was a big boy. Usually two is like your standard big boy. Oh, yeah. No, his dude. This was three.
SPEAKER_01And he was like, and he's like, Do you mind if I uh do you do you mind if I put my shoes on? I was like, yeah, go ahead. I'm like, no problem, no problem. Go ahead and come on. Stay calm. Stay calm. Stay calm. I'm getting him in my truck, and he's in the back of my truck, you know. And this time I had a king with that king ranch. Uh huh. And that king ranch had a big back seat. Yeah. This big boy, he was up in it, he was up in there like this. He couldn't like he would look like he couldn't move. He was probably used to that. I'm like, how in the hell did you get in a comp car? I'm like, uh, so we take we take him in, and dude, he was so nice, man. Uh, and so I I I I felt bad, but I you know, but you had to do what you had to do.
SPEAKER_02I mean, he's avoiding it, and like this is the part of it that we have to do.
SPEAKER_01But here's the it but here's
Staying Calm With Cops Involved
SPEAKER_01another thing. Like, all right, so cops, I you know, I you know my outlook on some cops. I'm not a big fan of half of them because they're like their kids that got picked on, now they're trying to take it out on society.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, true. But then, you know, and it's like this, you know, I say to people when they come out of a booking, you know, and they're all mad because of the way they treated them. You gotta understand how many people have actually shit on them, like lied, like done things to them to make them like that way, a lot of them.
SPEAKER_01But but there are some when you're handling situations, when you're handling situations, McNichols does it great. McNichols down in Deputy McNichols down in Brunswick County, dude. He is an excellent sheriff deputy. Yeah. Because he don't get all he don't get all like, all right, respect my authority. And he's not a big guy. No, he's not a big guy. He's he's like, he's just cool, complex, but he means it. He means he's serious. Hey, look, man, we gotta take care of this. Like, those are the officers that you want working for. And I and yet you like working with. Right. Because I mean, we're all on the same boat to help each other, but but that was my that was my story of Tiny.
SPEAKER_02That's why that's a cool story.
SPEAKER_01Big big dude. Yeah, yeah, man. I I was I was so I was like, man, I hope this dude don't get old mad and start wanting to fight. Because this is gonna hurt. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Like, yeah, I don't even know what tasing would do to I don't know neither.
SPEAKER_01His and his wife wasn't small neither.
SPEAKER_02Oh, really?
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, they'll they they like to eat. Well, they had to to sustain life. How big they were, bro. I'm telling you. Oh, yeah. Yeah, but they were nice, they were nice as can be, man. Yeah, yeah. I kind of like sometimes I wonder about like these people that we put back in jail. I wonder what they're up to now.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean, we don't always get to see the uh end result of what happens, you know. Yeah. Like to hear a good story. Sometimes they do come and stay in contact. You know, we hear something. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's not so good. Yeah. No.
SPEAKER_01Well, story of tiny. There you go. All right.
