When people are released from jail, they have the responsibility to appear in court, but some of these people choose to go on the run.
Speaker 2:They go back home to mommy.
Speaker 1:And that is when these guys come into the picture. So sit back and listen to the Off the Hook podcast with chad and rob very fine people on both sides these are real stories, but the names have been changed what's going on, guys?
Speaker 2:I'm rob what's?
Speaker 3:up everybody. I'm chad. How's it going?
Speaker 2:you know same old, same old story, different day. Let me turn this down here. There we go all right. There we go all right. So, chad, how you been doing buddy um, how was your weekend?
Speaker 3:it was nice. Yeah, we just had thanksgiving. It was good, and uh had family. It's fun, glad they're all home. Yeah, I'm tired'm already tired. And we've got the major holiday coming up Christmas. Yeah, it's starting to feel like Christmas outside man today we're talking about. We don't see it, but some people in our town have said they've seen snow, which is rare for us, but it's fitting for the holidays. It's nice. I'm hoping it's big.
Speaker 2:I'm a big hunter so I'm hoping that's nice. I'm a, you know, I'm a big hunter so I'm hoping this big, this big winter push is pushing all these birds down here. So by the time the season comes back in I think 21st or whatever- you have a nice new outfit for deer I do I wish? Where's it at? It's over here. Go ahead, grab it for me, grab it for me, grab it. Yeah, look what.
Speaker 3:Look what chad did a shameless plug for my new merch oh yes, I got my new thermal on just yesterday this is uh, this is one just for the deer, the duck hunters, basically, and then the other stuff sun shirts.
Speaker 2:Yeah, buddy, look at that, it's got the camo yeah yeah, it's got the camo on there. It's got the off. The salty southern yeah, it's got the camo on there. It's got the off the look Salty Southern gear baby, get it.
Speaker 3:Get it while you can. I'm getting ready to put the side up, because I got my inventory in so I'm ready to start putting it out there. But yeah, I got nice sun shirts for those that live on the coast.
Speaker 2:You know what I might wear this when my band plays, that'd you know?
Speaker 3:all right, salty southern right, yeah, salty southern baby, salty salty southern band. Thank you for that name, by the way. So, um, yeah, anything uh going on new in the news today other than uh, I just saw south korea declared martial war um martial law. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't know what that's about, but I literally just saw it while we were sitting here as it stays over there.
Speaker 2:Man don't come over here, yeah, um what about hunter?
Speaker 3:oh yeah, what's up buddy, uh how do you folks feel about hunter getting a uh, a free pass out of?
Speaker 2:jail after the whole four years. We're not gonna, we're not gonna tons of clips.
Speaker 3:Even that jean pierre whatever name is saying I don't know. You're talking to the press, you know she's like. Y'all asked me this over and over and he stated President Biden says he is not going to pardon his son. Well, guess what?
Speaker 2:It happened. Yeah, I got a question, though for everybody. How do you feel about? They're just blatantly lying to you. Don't make excuses for them. But they're just straight up lying to you.
Speaker 3:Don't make excuses for them but they're just straight up lying to you. I mean, listen. I mean, when Trump gets in and y'all cry about the January Sixers, you can't say a word. You cannot say one word about if he lets them out.
Speaker 2:Well, I'm glad the big man here Let me shake his head a little bit I'm glad he's getting things done already, before he even takes office.
Speaker 3:that's what a true leader it is mexico, canada, yeah, even they're wanting to talk, did you?
Speaker 2:see where he uh threatened hamas. I have not seen that. I saw that yesterday afternoon where he said he warned Hamas if you don't release three US citizens, if you don't release them to us by the time he gets in the office. They'll be hell to pay Well.
Speaker 3:I mean he's getting stuff done and he's not even in there yet Exactly, they know he doesn't play around.
Speaker 2:Well, I'm happy, like I said, the weight has been lifted off of our shoulders. But so this episode here, let me all right. So we've been playing with the idea about talking, doing this episode for a while and it keeps getting brought up and of course, chad brings it. He's like we gotta talk about. I'm like, yeah, we do, we do, we do, yeah they just kind of come across.
Speaker 3:You know, you're like, you know we think of these episodes and, like I said, we got this map in our office of all these pens and each pen. I mean there's probably, I don't know 60 something yeah, pens on that and some of the pens aren't even.
Speaker 3:You know, we stopped kind of doing it, but anyway, each pin represents a story and I'm just looking at this one in florida, and there's several in florida, people love going there, but this, uh, this girl that we had to go get and we used, uh, a bounty hunter, friend of ours, down there bernie, mr bernie, bernie jones.
Speaker 2:Yeah, man, that man's everywhere. He's got like a hundred kids yeah yeah, he's got away.
Speaker 3:That's all he does is work, and he's all he has to. Yeah, feed all those kids. He's a good dude, though.
Speaker 2:He's good to do to know? Uh, hey, I think he's based out of miami-dade area yeah, somewhere like that and he's like I said, he knows florida like the back of his hand, just like we know north carolina like the back of his hand, just like we know North Carolina like the back of ours. Yeah, so we've used him a few times.
Speaker 3:So he'll come up in the story. We'll kind of work into that. This is a story of what do we name her? Tina Tammy.
Speaker 2:Tammy.
Speaker 3:Tammy the gold digger.
Speaker 2:Let me tell you about Tammy. Tammy the gold digger. Let me tell you about Tammy. Let's do the story. You ready, you ready for story time? It's story time.
Speaker 3:All right, kick it.
Speaker 1:I can tell stories. I got too much to tell I can tell stories.
Speaker 3:I got too much to tell.
Speaker 2:I can tell stories. I got you there, you go, that one's done. Yeah. So Tammy the gold digger, Let me explain. I'm going to have. Do you want me to tell a story about the courthouse? Start it off.
Speaker 3:Go ahead, man Go ahead and knock it out.
Speaker 2:So, chad, she's this Tammy chick. She's been a client, an old client from years ago Before.
Speaker 3:Rob came along. Yeah, we knew her from way back. I'm probably her husband. Yeah, I remember her husband at the time She'd been, she got remarried back then and he got some like child um, underage child charges. Oh yeah, like some some bad stuff, and that was 15, 16, 17, somewhere around there years ago.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so I come along and Chad gets a call from her and he tells me all about it. So he tells me this story.
Speaker 3:Oh, about the courthouse, about the courthouse.
Speaker 2:Yeah, evidently she's in court for something, because she's always in there and some guy left his wallet in the bench at the courthouse. This woman sees an opportunity and takes it. She is a thief.
Speaker 2:Yeah, she's a gold digger, gold digger, gold digging thief is what she is, and she grabs the man's wallet and his credit cards and everything. This has been years ago, this has been quite a while. And she goes and buys a pair of tits with it, like with his credit card. Now I don't know what happened. I'm sure she got caught. I'm sure she had to pay it back.
Speaker 3:I mean, you know, try to explain that one. You know, hey, honey, what's this? You know eight ten thousand dollars.
Speaker 2:What? Is this for a plastic surgeon. Did you buy some titties?
Speaker 3:I mean, she was brave, she had, she had yeah yeah think her MO was getting men to do exactly what she wanted because she was a pretty girl, but man she was tough man.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, Every man's worst dream.
Speaker 3:Yeah, she's a nightmare. Yeah, one husband ended up in prison and the one that she went, I think she moved out to Las Vegas. Oh yeah, yeah, I keep an eye on her because previously I had to get her that's right Years ago.
Speaker 1:I had to get her.
Speaker 3:And she just stayed here in town. But then I was watching her on social media and she moved to Las Vegas and I don't know what she was doing out there. But her husband died and she came back here. Her mother, I think, lived here.
Speaker 2:Her, her husband, just all of a sudden died. Like I, I like, I mean I wish I wish, we could tell you. I wish we could tell you her name, so you know stay away from her but just Tammy the gold diggers.
Speaker 3:What we'll? We'll refer to as but well, I get her out.
Speaker 2:Do you know how much the bond? It was a 30 or 40 000 it was up there.
Speaker 3:Yeah, it was a, it was a, um, it was a pretty big bond. What do you call it?
Speaker 2:either a forgery or um credit card theft, like, uh, like misrepresenting yeah, and I think she had a boyfriend at a time who owned and, uh, some company down in south carolina. Was it elevated?
Speaker 3:no, you know, that's angela and that was no. I mean, uh, that was the other girl, not this girl okay, all right, because it's kind of close together.
Speaker 2:Um, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, I remember you're getting it confused.
Speaker 3:No, um no, she, she, her mother. Her mother called and she owns this little town home or something. And I explained to her. I said, look, I had to go get her many years ago. And of course her mother says well, she, she's older now.
Speaker 2:Grown up.
Speaker 3:Grown up, she's got it together, she's got kids, you know. Okay, all right, I'm going to take a chance. And so, sure enough, she misses court. I mean, we're talking from the time I got her out and had to find her 10 years, something like that. So usually people make some changes for the better Usually, not always, not this girl. She misses court.
Speaker 2:Well, hold on, she gets put on pretrial.
Speaker 3:She did get an ankle monitor. She did get an ankle monitor by pretrial.
Speaker 2:So that made us feel better a little better about it. But then again, you can't-trial because they don't watch this, they don't care, no, they're just putting his own to get money for it. Uh, so by the time she misses court, we get a notification and I think we're in contact with her. She's like, yeah, yeah, I'm gonna have it fixed, blah, blah, blah. And then she goes silent on us.
Speaker 3:Yeah, and we go out to mama's we go to mama's house we said like look you. And we sit down and talk to her and say look what happened here, and she goes. I don't know. She took the monitor off.
Speaker 2:And we go in the bedroom and find out she cut it.
Speaker 3:Yeah, she cut the ankle monitor off. She called a taxi cab and took the taxi. At that point we didn't know where. So we started thinking about it and we're like, um, all right, um, I think what, how did we get ahold of we? Somehow we got a hold of the company, the taxi company. I don't know, it was a taxi cab company.
Speaker 2:Yeah, at that time Was it Uber, the company, the taxi company? I don't know, it was a taxi cab company yeah that time wasn't over, wasn't left yeah, it was a taxi cab and she. We got a hold of him and we found out that she got a taxi cab all the way down to myrtle beach.
Speaker 3:Yeah, which, from wilmington to myrtle beach, you're talking hour, 20 minutes, something like that, yeah where she was, at murray's area. She was further down in myrtle. So you know that's a pretty good ride for a taxi.
Speaker 2:Chad and I decided to go down there. Yeah, we go down there and it's.
Speaker 3:It was like what was it like an industrial park area or something like it wasn't. There wasn't really anything there. It was Myrtle's.
Speaker 2:Inlet area, so everything's kind of it's not much there and we were all over the place because we remember we had this text messaging app at the time. It doesn't work anymore now, but where you text somebody and if they respond to you back or even open it, it shows you the location.
Speaker 3:Oh, you're talking about that service that we had, yeah, and it's gone away now, which I think was great. Yeah.
Speaker 2:And we were watching it and she's all over the place Like she's moving a lot and we're on her heels and she doesn't know that we are on her heels. And next thing, you know, I'm looking and look, it's getting late and me and Chad are tired, it's getting late. And we find out, looking and look, it's getting late and me and Chad are tired, it's getting late, and we find out that, boom, she's headed home out of town.
Speaker 3:Yeah, she's heading south heading south.
Speaker 2:I'm like what the shit? I'm like, well, we'll just keep it out, we'll go back, we'll go back home, keep an eye on it and kind of go from there oh, I think I remember so that that app that you're talking about it landed. She landed at a location, yeah, and we were able to get an address yep, and then we would go to that address and she wasn't there, and but we talked to them.
Speaker 3:It was a, it was a couple. I want to say that she stayed at, yeah, and, like they told us about how crazy she was and kicked her out, and so she proceeded to go further south, from georgia to florida yep but we didn't know where in Florida.
Speaker 3:So I had that website Slammer Picks. Slammerpickscom is what I put my one in people that are difficult to find and it's kind of like you know anybody that wants to find something on anybody they Google their name, right. Well, I mean, if I can get you to show up, I call it my SEO for criminals. Search engine optimization, seo. Anybody in business knows what SEO is.
Speaker 2:Some people.
Speaker 3:Well, okay.
Speaker 2:Well, I can't give some of these other people credit.
Speaker 3:Yeah, anyway, I do it with criminals' names, so everybody you know you'll search results the first page, maybe halfway down the first page at most right. So if I can get you to show up at the top part of the page with an article, you know your photo and here's your charges when it was put in and wanted and contact me. You know if, um, if you see this person, you would be surprised how many times that's worked for us as it actually worked a lot, and for other bondsmen.
Speaker 3:Facebook. It doesn't work so good. You're only as good as the people that you're friends with or whoever shares it. This is working. I've had people in other countries call me that we were looking for people. I had one in costa rica calling me about his brother. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Um, so I mean it's worldwide. You're you're. A lot of these bondsmen think that Facebook's the end, all. It's not Um, but anyway, we had a call on a Saturday. I want to say it was from a Daytona.
Speaker 2:It was Daytona, a Daytona, um, whatever daytona it was daytona, a daytona um whatever county, this dade county, somewhere like that. Yeah, I can't remember. It was near fort lauderdale, I believe somewhere down there.
Speaker 3:Officer called me on a saturday. Uh, the officer had found my slammer pick post on her because she just googled her name. There's my wanted post. And she called. She said are you looking for Tammy the gold digger? And I said, as a matter of fact, I am. She said well, she just got arrested and I'm the officer so-and-so and she's in jail here in the County. Um, she was at a hotel at the airport partying, drinking I don't know drugs. Some guy that was with her OD'd. So the ambulance came, the police came, she was arrested, the guy was taken to the hospital and saw a magistrate. I did not know this in that part in Florida because it doesn't work this way. In North Carolina, our section, they have court on weekends and he told you that.
Speaker 3:Because, I thought we were good because this was Saturday. I'm like, oh cool, we got until Monday, they're not going to release her. I mean this guy OD'd, she's got drugs.
Speaker 2:I mean she's in a motel, she's a big risk and she doesn't have any permanent residence in Florida.
Speaker 3:That's what I mean. She's in a hotel. She has no permanent residence. So, like you know, here you wouldn't get an unsecured bond and you wouldn't have court until monday. So I'm figuring okay, we're good. Officer said no, we haven't. Now she said you might want to hurry up because we have court in the morning. I said do what yeah um, um and we didn't have enough time. Yeah, I mean from North Carolina. We didn't have enough time to get there.
Speaker 3:Yeah, we're looking at an eight, nine-hour drive, something like that, yeah it's quite a drive.
Speaker 2:So then we start. I'm like, hey, I know a guy down there named Vernon.
Speaker 3:Vernon yeah, we had to use our resources and get a hold of Vernon. We told him the situation and he was willing to help us.
Speaker 2:Yeah. So we tell him hey, we're going to go ahead and get the car rented and we're going to go ahead and start heading that way.
Speaker 3:Yeah, so that way you don't have to drive so far you don't have to babysit her or, if you catch her, you don't have to hang out with her too long. So we go to.
Speaker 2:We're driving on 95. In our little minivan.
Speaker 3:Yeah, in a minivan, that was a comfortable way to go, yeah.
Speaker 2:In a minivan. We're somewhere around the Florida Georgia line.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and we're keeping in contact with Vernon and.
Speaker 2:Vernon's like hey, I'm outside of the jail, I know where she's going to be released.
Speaker 3:So they release her. We're watching what's happening to her in court. Yeah, he's FaceTiming me. And they, in the wisdom of Florida, they released a girl from North Carolina you know, that's all the IDs she had who's staying in a motel, who's doing drugs, and she told them that she had a permanent. That's all she had to say.
Speaker 3:She told us later she knew what she was doing All she had to do was say that she had a permanent residence. They didn't ask her where or who or anything, and just took her word and they let her out on unsecured, no monitor, no, nothing. So naturally she's not going to come back to court, right? I mean, look she's facing. I mean, and if that guy, that od, we don't even know what happened to him, we don't know if he died or if he, you know, made it or what I mean? Well, so we're, we're unbelievable.
Speaker 2:We call Vernon FaceTime and he's like hey man, I'm standing out here, cool, cool, cool. He goes soon as she comes out, I'm gonna jump on her. I was like alright, cool. And then no lie, but like within a second of him saying that he goes, oh, hang on.
Speaker 3:Yeah, he had it mounted. I want to say he had the phone mounted on his vest and he goes.
Speaker 2:She was barefoot. Yeah, he had it mounted. I want to say he had the phone mounted on his vest and he goes damn it and she's like no and starts taking off running.
Speaker 3:Yeah, she's barefooted or flip-flops or something you know getting out of jail. You don't come out with your shoes, she's running out of jail.
Speaker 2:Now she's running from this hunter. He tackles her in the parking lot and gets her, and the whole time we're watching, we're laughing, we're we're thanking god that he got her. Yeah, yeah, and he meets us at some gas station. It was dark, yeah he drove up.
Speaker 3:It was getting dark. Yeah, we, we had to drive all the way we were.
Speaker 2:Like I said, georgia florida line is about where we were when we got the call yeah, so we met him somewhere, somewhere in florida, I don't remember because it was been so long ago yeah, maybe jacksonville area something like that anyway, we pull up at this gas station and here comes vernon, he pulls up and we get out and where everybody's getting out and we open a door and she looks at I remember her looking at us going sorry yeah, she's starting.
Speaker 3:She's starting a little her little plan of uh pittiness, thinking that she's going to get over on us not knowing I had.
Speaker 2:I had a really nice trip planned for her so we.
Speaker 3:So. The another reason for minivans is they have like a seat row seat. I learned this from a bounty hunter from a long time ago. There's a clip that the seats go into, so you get like the third row, you put your defendant in the third row, yep, and you run these shackles that go on your wrists and they go on your ankles and there's a ring. Well, you can take it and you can clip it underneath where the seat clips in front. So they're pretty much bound. They're not going anywhere. So the transport cuffs is what we call them.
Speaker 2:So we have her in there and she's cool, she's not fighting us and she's not being a bitch or anything. I mean she's caught. So I mean it's just the way it is, yeah, yeah. And we start riding on the way back and of course we don't trust her for nothing and we have cameras going the entire trip back because we didn't want her to say anything, so we kept cameras rolling. It didn't matter what we did. We had cameras rolling, yep. And on the way back, I knew the story she didn't know. I knew the story about her stealing the credit card, so I kept playing.
Speaker 3:we were, we were pretty, I had a set list for right.
Speaker 2:So I'm gonna play it for you guys. We're going down the road and I do this. I'm like, hey, I got a song for you yeah, yeah, you can see her face.
Speaker 3:She was like she was about to get all mad.
Speaker 2:She was trying to get mad, but she was smiling about it.
Speaker 3:She was like it's kind of funny, it's kind of funny.
Speaker 2:I think there was some more. There was some more songs, I don't remember, but then again, this is the time where Chad found out we had this.
Speaker 3:We get on our kicks, we get on a certain kick and we'll play it over and over. Well, this song was hilarious at the time.
Speaker 2:She liked it, hang on.
Speaker 1:Riding around the block with a Glock.
Speaker 3:Yo Ed Finna get shot.
Speaker 1:That's the silence.
Speaker 3:That's the grenade launch. We had a bunch of music. We laugh at stupid stuff. You have to when all you're doing is driving. You got to come up with something you know so.
Speaker 2:Sorry, I just had a text. But yeah, I had a whole set list made for kind of making puns about how much of a gold digger she was. Right, yeah, we get back to North Carolina. What was it? We took her to New Hanover. Mm-hmm, we took her to New Hanover and put her in and from there guess what? All that driving, paying Vernon, because we had to pay Vernon. Yep. Every bit of it zero dollars from taxpayers.
Speaker 3:Yeah, this is nothing from taxpayers. This is all on us, you know. So this is another thing that you know people don't understand about what we do. What we contribute to the system is we're not a paid group from the state or the county or anything.
Speaker 2:It's all coming out of our pockets.
Speaker 3:It's a win-win for you that you have us, the general public. I mean I've said it before, I'll say it again the money that if we can't catch that person and she was $30,000, $40,000, if we can't produce her to court within a certain amount of time, we had to pay that $30,000.
Speaker 2:And then, on top of it, if we had to pay it nobody. I don't know we've said this before, but you know where that money goes to. It goes to the school systems. Yeah, it goes to the school systems. So we don't have the greatest in the country school system and it can be better. This money you're taking by.
Speaker 3:It's a win-win, because you're either going to get the money for the school system and the victim gets their day in court. If not, there's money to replace it. Money cannot replace everything, but it's better than nothing.
Speaker 2:Exactly.
Speaker 3:So you know, I think North Carolina has it right. When it comes to bail, Everybody doesn't have to have a secured bond. But giving everybody a free pass is not the answer either. No, I mean we're just one company. I mean there's 2,400, something like that In the state, in the whole state.
Speaker 2:But how many of them actually write?
Speaker 3:bonds? I don't know. But what my point is is we're just one group. You know one group of two, three, I don't know. I think we've got five guys. So you know we're just one group and we do our part to make sure. I've heard other bondsmen say we keep our end of the bargain. You know, we make the arrangement for them to be in court exactly and it's a true, true statement.
Speaker 3:You know so, you know, so you know a little bit more about what it is we do. Well, it sounds fun, we go catch people and stuff. It's stressful. You know, you got a lot of money. I mean, we got a board over there. We get hurt you know we yeah, we know that I've we've had a couple situations where you know we've gotten had to get physical and you know we do get hurt and it takes like a week or two to get it. It's getting, let's get longer now. It's getting longer, I guess.
Speaker 2:But uh, I hit 40 a few years ago and I'm just like I don't. I don't like it. It takes a little bit longer to, so if I don't have to, oh that's great.
Speaker 3:So our bullpup that shoots uh non-lethal rounds yes, that helps us out a lot. That's uh, that's getting used more yeah, yeah, you run.
Speaker 2:I don't run 300 yards and I'm done, yeah, so. But so that was the story of tammy the gold digger. I don't know where she's at, she's back in jail.
Speaker 3:I you know, I was just cruising through the jail list the other day and I think I saw her back in there. I don't know what for um, but yeah, apparently she's never going to learn her lesson.
Speaker 2:Unfortunately, not everybody will um, but we try what's going to happen to all these women that are like that? I'm not saying all women, I'm just saying women that are like this. What are they going to do when they get 60 years old and they ran hard put up with?
Speaker 3:better get you some put up with it? Better get you some cats, I don't know.
Speaker 2:Get you some cats and listen to Taylor Swift.
Speaker 3:You'll be all right. Taylor Swift oh God, I hate that Swifties.
Speaker 2:Y'all listen to some real music, Anyway. So that's the story of Tammy. We will never bond her out again. That's our lesson learned.
Speaker 3:We move on to the next problem. As I say, and our list on the board is more problems and we have to solve them, and they're all different and they become new stories.
Speaker 2:Speaking of last week, we talked about where we're going after a guy. Remember last week, last Friday, we went and sat and washed his house all day.
Speaker 3:Yeah, we actually, after we did the pocket, we went and did a, actually a pickup.
Speaker 2:We tried to, we tried to, we did a surveillance all day long, surveillance all day long.
Speaker 3:So yeah, with that one we had bad information from it's another bondsman. I don't think we've ever met him. He just called us to go get him and we're going based on his information, which you've got to be careful because they can be getting you in trouble.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but we did it. We did it right. Yeah, she gave us permission. We went and searched and there was nothing, we permission we went and searched and there was nothing wasted.
